Foodie Paradise, Penang
While Singapore celebrated its 58th birthday, WJ and I took a short flight to Penang with my parents to rest, relax, and of course, eat.
WJ was so excited to try all the different dishes and stores that he planned out a food itinerary that would have us eating every hour. Every hour! Suffice to say, we didn’t follow his plan in the end because it would have been impossible to eat that much without exploding!

We did manage to eat at quite a number of restaurants on WJ’s list though. But sadly, because our trip fell over a polling day in Penang, many of the stores were closed or closed early that day.
Here’s where and what we ate over the 3 days!
Peranakan Food
Peranakan food at Ivy’s Nyonya Cuisine
MICHELIN Bib Gourmand
Our favourite restaurant during our trip!

Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay
MICHELIN Bib Gourmand

Peranakan food at Auntie Gaik Lean’s Old School Eatery
One MICHELIN Star

Kimberley Street Duck Kway Chap

Local Food
Green House Prawn Mee & Loh Mee
MICHELIN Bib Gourmand
I loved the prawn mee with its spicy kick (I took out the extra chilli if not it’ll be too spicy)!

Hot Bowl White Curry Mee
You can add in your own amount of chilli so it can be zero spice or as spicy as you want. I saw some other patrons eating very, very red bowls.
Here’s my white bowl with a tiny tinge of red, if you can spot it.

Penang Road Famous Laksa
MICHELIN Bib Gourmand

Andrew Kampung Restaurant
The owner was very friendly, and the food was fantastic.

Village Fish Head Bee Hoon
Delicious and it’s a huge serving!

Mother And Son Wantan Mee

Toast, nasi lemak and char kuay teow at OO White Coffee Cafe

Snacks
Tan Jetty Prawn Fritters & Loh Bak

Penang Road Famous Teochew Chendul

Popiah and loh bak at Kimberley Street

Apom, chicken wings and oyster omelette on Chulia Street

Tau sar piah from Him Heang and Ghee Hiang

We only managed to eat at 5 out of the 46 restaurants and food stores on the Penang Michelin Guide!
