8 Hours in Zurich
After a work trip to Zurich in early March, my colleague and I found ourselves with some free time before our night flight back to Singapore. We decided to take advantage of the time to wander through the city, aiming to stretch our legs and explore the city, hoping to tire ourselves out enough to sleep on the long flight home!
Here’s where we went.
Walking along Lake Zurich
The biggest draw for me in Lake Zurich? The huge bevy of swans! I’ve never seen so many swans in one place!
A little girl was feeding the swans by the bank and they were fighting noisily over the pieces of bread. A few ducks even joined in the fun.
Taking a breather at Chinagarten
We came across the Chinese Garden while strolling along the banks of Lake Zurich. The garden was a gift from Kunming and apparently one of the highest-ranking gardens outside of China. And best of all, it’s free to enter!
It’s a beautiful garden, albeit a little small, and reminiscent of the Chinese Garden in Singapore.
Exploring Lindenhof
It was a Saturday and there were plenty of people walking around, both locals and tourists alike. We spotted people enjoying the sunshine while having their coffee and people-watching, people buying fresh produce and pastries and street magicians mesmerising children.
We walked uphill for a short while to Lindenhof Hill and were rewarded with a bird’s eye view of the city.
Admiring Fraumünster Church
We went in to check out the famous glass windows by Marc Chagall and Augusto Giacometti and the largest organ in Zurich.
Strolling along Bahnhofstrasse
I was definitely not intending to spend any money at the rows of luxury stores, but it was where my feet took me at night – towards the bright lights!
