Budget Breakdown: 16 Days in Japan
We had our honeymoon in Japan and visited Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Takayama and Nagoya. Hoping to catch the autumn colours, we booked our trip for November. But unfortunately, it was a little late and we missed most of the bright orange and red leaves. In fact, it even started snowing in Takayama just as we were leaving to catch the train! Shirakawa-go: Little Town of Huts
Shirakawa-go, home to cute little farmhouses which roofs are built without nails, was charming. We took the first bus from Takayama (7.20am) and reached the town in about an hour with the place almost entirely to ourselves. Taking advantage of the clear grounds before other tourists started pouring in, WJ and I went straight to the Outdoor Museum Gassho Folk Museum as soon as it opened at 8.40am.

Kanazawa: Of Ninjas and Gardens
WJ and I enjoyed Kanazawa. It was away from the bustling crowds and peaceful, but still had the convenience of Osaka. You could easily find a restaurant, a clothing store and plenty of convenience stores. And best off all, we could walk to most of the sights easily!
