8 Hours in Zurich
After a work trip to Zurich in early March, my colleague and I found ourselves with some free time before our night flight back to Singapore. We decided to take advantage of the time to wander through the city, aiming to stretch our legs and explore the city, hoping to tire ourselves out enough to sleep on the long flight home!

Sun, Snow and Rain in the Alps (Switzerland)
Switzerland has always been on WJ and my bucket list, and when I had to go there for a work trip, we took the chance to extend it another 9 days for a holiday. While March wasn't the ideal time to visit, what with the unstable weather, it was too good a chance to pass up!

Welcoming Spring in Heidelberg
The picturesque city of Heidelberg along the Neckar River is famous for its romantic cityscape and being a college town with prestigious universities and the oldest university in Germany founded in 1386! What attracted us was its blend of old-world charm and vibrant student life, and we knew we had to visit the city while planning our trip to Germany!

Enchanted by Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Rothenburg ob der Tauber was beautiful, peaceful and picturesque. It's little wonder that many have said it's out of a fairytale and one of the most romantic towns in the world. Most visitors only swing by for a day trip, but we stayed for 4 days and it was perfect.

Rainy Nuremberg
Most of the time we were in Nuremberg, we were wishing "Rain, rain, go away!". Because sadly for us, it was raining for all 4 days we were there. We tried not to let it affect our time there too much by visiting mostly indoor places, but unfortunately, we couldn't fully enjoy Nuremberg because of the rain! We'll have to come again another time!

Snowing in Triberg
Just a week before we flew from Singapore, we checked the weather forecast for Triberg (and the other places we were travelling in Germany) and it was between 5 to 15°C. Imagine our shock when we touched down at Frankfurt airport and it was... Snowing!

Lost at Lake Como
A minute before we rolled into Varenna Esino station where we wanted to start our day at Lake Como, an announcement came up about walking to the front of the train as the railway was shorter at the station. We were at the last cabin of the train, and the announcement in English was broadcasted just as the train rolled to a stop.

A Christmas Weekend in Venice
We had high expectations for Venice, and the island did not disappoint. It was a surreal experience being in a city that "floats" without a single car or bus. But instead, waterbuses and water taxis were used. Just like a kelong - but bigger, grander, and way cooler.

First Time in Florence
We only spent 3 days in Florence - definitely not enough for a 'proper' visit to the beautiful capital of Italy’s Tuscany region! So we stuck with the top sites recommended by trusty travel sites and forums since we had so little time in the city. We'll definitely be back!

Roaming Rome Over 4 Days
So many things went wrong at the start of our very first trip since the COVID-19 pandemic hit 2 years ago. We received the news that Italy had banned Singaporean travellers from going into the country during our flight to Milan - on the very day we were arriving. Thankfully we managed to get through immigration without anybody stopping us! We were expecting to be turned back at the gate!
