Soaking Ourselves Dry at Villa 32, Beitou
Welcome to Villa 32, a hot spring haven set in a scenic location and highly recommended by a Taiwanese friend.
The guys had wanted to bathe in the public pools initially, but most of us girls were shy going naked with each other, so we chose to soak in the private hot spring rooms. At 2,800NTD (S$120.38) each, it was a splurge for 90 minutes of relaxation. But there’s a high price to pay for privacy.
There were snacks and 2 bottles of Evian water provided in the room, as well as bathing amenities. An en suite shower with a wooden stool was next to the hot spring tub, and bathing robes were laid out for us. There was even a small sofa bed in the room!
The roof of the private room could also be opened to let in the sunrays, or for you to view the stars at night.
Goodbye, stress! Goodbye, tension!
Did you know that you’re only supposed to soak yourself for a maximum of 30 minutes in a hot spring each time, and you shouldn’t soak for more than 3 times a day? No? Neither did we. Which explains why we had rapidly beating hearts and flustered faces after getting out.
We’d stupidly soaked for about an hour, never getting up to shower in cold water to cool our body. Thank goodness nothing happened to us! But we felt so hot the whole day, and it was only about 20 degrees out!
Remember to stay safe, and make sure you’re also properly hydrated throughout!
Villa 32 is about a 15-minute walk away from Xinbeitou station. Entrance to the public hot spring area is 1,680NTD (S$72.23) each for a weekday, while it costs 2,800NTD (S$120.38) each for a private room.
There’s also a restaurant you can dine at after a soak, a spa for massages or stay in one of their suites!
