Stuffing our Faces at Modern Toilet (restaurant)

Taiwan, like Japan, is home to plenty of themed restaurants. We visited one called ‘Modern Toilet‘.

How the toilet theme as a restaurant can be successful eludes me, but there appears to be still plenty of customers even after being around for 11 years! We visited the Ximending outlet since we were staying close by.

The restaurant served food shaped like cartoon poop, or served them in cutlery inspired by the toilet. You might think you’ll lose your appetite with food served this way, but it’s done in a cutesy manner, so it shouldn’t affect you. Unless you have an overactive mind, then… Please ignore the photos below!

The food isn’t the best. The dishes we ordered tasted ordinary and the ice-cream had the airy, ‘cheapo’ taste. What sets the restaurant apart is the wacky toilet theme, but I wouldn’t come back again after the initial kitschy experience. There are other restaurants in the vicinity with better food at a cheaper price tag!
